Everything started in 2019, when Matias a Chilean funk obsessed guitar player sent a message to one of his Brazilian idols "Donatinho" to produce his first record. Two years later Donatinho discovered the message in the spam inbox and replied with "you can count with me!". This was a dream come true for Matias, who is a big fan of the Brazilian boogie of Lincoln Olivetti, Tim Maia, Black Rio, Ritta Lee and many others. To work with the son of Joao Donato, one of the founding fathers of Bosa Nova, was a unique opportunity to learn from the best.

Matias was on repeat mode with "Syntetizamor" for half a year, that record from Donatinho and Big Donato was killer, so fresh and so classic at the same time. There couldn‘t be anyone better to produce Matias‘ vision of a world of boogie, romantic and profound stories with chic arrangements.

After a few months in production Matias asked his wife Consuelo to sing one song, Matias and Donatinho were immediately in love with her delivery and invited her to sing in almost all the other songs. This is when Cherry Cats is born.
